{"id":18621,"date":"2018-02-16T20:07:55","date_gmt":"2018-02-17T01:07:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/?p=18621"},"modified":"2019-06-18T18:56:57","modified_gmt":"2019-06-18T22:56:57","slug":"samsungs-digital-cockpit-future-connected-car-ces2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/samsung-newsroom-production.barbariangroup.com\/us\/samsungs-digital-cockpit-future-connected-car-ces2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Test Drive Samsung\u2019s \u2018Digital Cockpit\u2019 for the Future Connected Car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Test Drive Samsung\u2019s \u2018Digital Cockpit\u2019 for the Future Connected Car\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1VcFeKs0cJc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>As the Internet of Things (IoT) shifts lanes from your home to a future connected car experience, Samsung revealed last month the \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/harman-and-samsung-unveil-the-future-of-connectivity-and-autonomous-driving-at-ces-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Digital Cockpit<\/a>\u201d platform, which combines 5G technology and an IoT platform to support a connected lifestyle without compromising safety or performance while on-the-go.<\/p>\n<p>Showcased in the \u201cLifestyle District\u201d of the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/ces2018-samsung-city-experience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Samsung City booth<\/a> at <a href=\"http:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/ces2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CES 2018<\/a> in Las Vegas, the new Digital Cockpit platform is the first automotive electronics collaboration between Samsung and <a href=\"http:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/samsung-electronics-completes-acquisition-of-harman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HARMAN<\/a>, designed with personalization for every driver in mind.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the cockpit, a series of brilliant displays utilize Samsung\u2019s OLED and QLED technology. The 12-inch dashboard provides driving information such as the standard speedometer and fuel gauge readings, while a 28-inch QLED display offers an array of technology at the driver\u2019s fingertips, from navigation to connecting your smartphone for taking phone calls and streaming music and accessing the soon-to-launch <a href=\"http:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/samsung-vision-iot-experiences-ces2018-press-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SmartThings<\/a> IoT platform. Drivers can use Bixby, Samsung\u2019s personalized intelligent assistant, for simple tasks like changing the temperature in the vehicle, but also for controlling IoT devices not in the car. For example, you can check the inside of your Family Hub refrigerator to see if you need to buy eggs before heading home, or you can start the washing machine from your vehicle\u2013 all hands-free. This enables the car to be fully aware and responsive to its surroundings \u2013 essentially becoming a data center that\u2019s receiving information and sending it, up to the network and down to the infrastructure.
