The monitor can feed fish and turn on an aquarium light by text message. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/4_fish_tank_light.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20521 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/4_fish_tank_light-600x362.gif\" alt=\"Animated Gif - Fish Tank Light\" width=\"600\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another way was using an old phone\u2019s plastic packaging from the box it came in to build a \u201cSmart Pet Bowl\u201d that enables pet parents to feed their cats on the go. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/5_cat_bowl_parts.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20523 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/5_cat_bowl_parts-600x362.gif\" alt=\"Animated Gif - Cat bowl parts\" width=\"600\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Smart Pet Bowl was a team favorite given that it takes a photo of the pet eating, providing proof that one\u2019s favorite friend was fed. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/6_cat_notif.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20527 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/6_cat_notif-600x362.gif\" alt=\"Animated Gif - Smart Pet Bowl\" width=\"600\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These solutions are simple for a reason. Inspiring people to reuse their devices at home or on the go provides an easy-to-achieve call to action that anyone can follow: old electronics are still useful for your everyday life. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/8_convention.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20525 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/8_convention-600x362.gif\" alt=\"Animated Gif - Convention\" width=\"600\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week, Samsung\u2019s Innovative <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/galaxyupcycling.github.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Galaxy Upcycling Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was awarded the 2018 Environmental Leader Awards Project of the Year Award. Previous winners include Disney, Dell, and Johnson &amp; Johnson. Samsung\u2019s Dr. Dochul Choi who led the project was also honored as a top 75 Environmental Leader.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The neat aspect of this is that it is a &#8216;do-it-yourself&#8217; project. This could be a fun family project, or an innovation opportunity for those who like to tinker,&#8221;<strong> said an anonymous Environmental Leader Awards judge.<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the past year, Samsung\u2019s Upcycling Project team has taken the show on the road, helping others to learn the multiple ways that their old phones and devices can be repurposed for a more sustainable future.
