(Photo by Samsung)<\/p><\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p>On October 5, two Samsung U.S. manufacturing facilities opened their doors to welcome local students as part of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) seventh annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfgday.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Manufacturing Day<\/a>. Through this partnership with the NEPRIS app, students were able to see behind the curtain at one of the most innovative production environments in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Carolyn Lee, Executive Director of the Manufacturing Institute, was on hand for the tours of the SAS Observation Deck and Showroom, and shared her thoughts on Manufacturing Day. Following facility tours, students joined Lee for a panel discussion and Q&amp;A session.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/austin1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23677 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/austin1-950x475.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"730\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/14104301\/austin1-950x475.png 950w, https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/14104301\/austin1-600x300.png 600w, https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/14104301\/austin1.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u201cNearly half a million manufacturing jobs remain unfilled today and millions more are projected to go unfilled in the years to come,\u201d <strong>said Lee<\/strong>. \u201cThat\u2019s why it\u2019s so important to promote modern manufacturing and jumpstart new approaches to growing manufacturing talent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Further east in Newberry County, S.C., the team at Samsung Electronics Home Appliance (SEHA) hosted students from Newberry Middle &amp; High Schools, Whitmire Community School and Mid-Carolina High School, who each toured the SEHA manufacturing facility. Congressman Joe Wilson also attended to recognize the importance of partnerships between Samsung and community groups like Newberry County Career Center as keys to SEHA\u2019s successful first year.<\/p>\n<p>Opened in 2017, the SEHA facility represents a $380 million Samsung investment, slated to create nearly 1,000 jobs by 2020.
