While customer experience has long been of paramount significance, the experience itself is in need of a change because consumers\u2019 expectations, behaviors, and priorities have evolved in this new environment. Samsung is leading the innovation charge by reimagining retail\u2019s next chapter of digital, physical, and immersive shopping experiences. We are \u201cunwriting the rules\u201d of the traditional shopping experience for both our direct-to-consumer (DTC) and carrier and retail partner channels \u2013 with a focus on blending digital and physical realms, as well as offering consumers safe, touch-free options.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-43483 gallery-columns-3 Experiences<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Samsung has launched its Live Virtual Assistant offering for U.S. customers \u2013 a first-to-market video-powered solution for the U.S. consumer electronics space. By bridging the online and offline gap, Live Virtual Assistant provides virtual customer consultations to blend the digital buying experience with in-store human interaction.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_43499\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-43499\" class=\"wp-image-43499 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/LVA1-502x600.png\" alt=\"Samsung Live Virtual Assistant\" width=\"502\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/17110517\/LVA1-502x600.png 502w, https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/17110517\/LVA1.png 517w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 502px) 100vw, 502px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-43499\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We provide the ability to virtually connect with a Samsung product expert, anywhere, through real-time video interactions.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Live Virtual Assistant was developed in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goinstore.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Go Instore<\/a>, which also supported a comparable customer-centric offering for Samsung in the UK. Here is how it works:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Customers shopping on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samsung.com\/us\/samsung-experience-store\/\">Samsung.com\/US<\/a> can connect with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samsung.com\/us\/samsung-experience-store\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Samsung Experience Store<\/a> experts from the safety and convenience of their homes.<\/li>\n<li>Enabled by secure one-way video, customers can quickly explore a range of Samsung products and receive expert advice and demonstrations to help support their purchasing decision.<\/li>\n<li>A new \u2018Add to Basket\u2019 feature was recently included whereby the Samsung Experience Store expert can add items to the customer\u2019s cart so they can review and complete their order at their convenience.<\/li>\n<li>To date, Samsung Live Virtual Assistant has powered more than eight thousand virtual calls with a high satisfaction score, averaging 4.5 out of 5. In March, when many of Samsung\u2019s retail partners temporarily closed their doors to adhere to government-mandated pandemic measures, we began to think about the road to reopening with an emphasis on in-store safety.<\/p>\n<p>Various Samsung business units \u2013 from home entertainment and home appliance to mobile and business-to-business, formed a cross-functional task force to conceive new ways in which touchless retail solutions could be incorporated into the in-store experience. With the goal of maintaining the health and safety of retail associates and customers \u2013 which is priority number one, Samsung compressed the development cycle of an in-market solution to less than five months.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-43487 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/QR-Code-Touchless-Retail-600x372.png\" alt=\"QR Code Touchless Retail\" width=\"600\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/17085234\/QR-Code-Touchless-Retail-600x372.png 600w, https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/17085234\/QR-Code-Touchless-Retail.png 859w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The results are gesture-based and QR code-driven controls that allow for Samsung product exploration and discovery without the need to physically touch the products themselves. For instance, through a hand gesture to activate a demonstration of a soundbar or a quick QR scan that triggers a \u2018retail mode\u2019 on the consumer\u2019s mobile device, we are creating new experiences that speak to modern-day shoppers \u2014 individuals who are cautious of heightened global health concerns, but also eager to shop with confidence in a safe in-store environment.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, these touchless solutions are integrated into mobile displays across approximately 10,000 carrier and retail partner locations and in TV and audio displays in more than 150 retailers as part of a pilot program with the expectation of rolling out more broadly in 2021. Moreover, based on positive early data from in-store solutions, Samsung mobile is designing a scalable web-based \u2018retail mode\u2019 platform to power online product exploration experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Through the power of bold technology, we are providing customers with the option to get the same unparalleled Samsung service in whichever environment they are comfortable with.
