Combined with the app\u2019s Electrocardiogram (ECG) <a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a> monitoring, the IHRN feature, detects heart rhythms suggestive of atrial fibrillation (AFib), helping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samsung.com\/us\/watches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Galaxy Watch<\/a> users understand their heart health more comprehensively.<\/p>\n<p>The IHRN feature has been approved by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) last week, following recent <a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/fda-cleared-irregular-heart-rhythm-notification-for-galaxy-watch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)<\/a>. Together with the existing Heart Rate<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/a> monitor, users can gain even deeper insights into their cardiovascular health.<\/p>\n<p>Since the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/galaxy-watch-active2-software-update-healthy-convenient\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launch in 2020<\/a>, the Samsung Health Monitor app has expanded to 74 markets<a href=\"#_ftn5\" name=\"_ftnref5\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a> across the globe. The IHRN feature is not intended to provide a notification on every episode of irregular rhythm suggestive of AFib and the absence of a notification is not intended to indicate no disease process is present; rather the feature is intended to opportunistically acquire pulse rate data when the user is still and analyze the data when determined sufficient toward surfacing a notification<\/h6>\n<h6><a href=\"#_ftnref2\" name=\"_ftn2\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a> Availability may vary by market or device. Due to market restrictions in obtaining approval\/registration as a Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), it only works on watches and smartphones purchased in the markets where service is currently available (however, service may be restricted when users travel to non-service markets).<\/h6>\n<h6><a href=\"#_ftnref3\" name=\"_ftn3\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a> The ECG app is not intended for users with known arrhythmias other than atrial fibrillation or users under 22 years old.
