At Samsung, our commitment to communities<\/a> is one that extends to those decision-makers who walk the streets of our nation\u2019s capital. As a catalyst in a bipartisan approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion<\/a> we were pleased to host the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) at our Samsung DC event space for the second annual year. This is a significant and important partnership for Samsung, highlighting our drive to deliver positive social change, and impact in communities across the U.S.<\/p>\n

Our partnership with the CBC comes to life during the Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, where influential figures celebrated the 30th<\/sup> anniversary of Congressman James Clyburn\u2019s election. This year, as part of CBC festivities, Samsung was once again honored to host Congressman Jim Clyburn\u2019s annual Palmetto Reception on Thursday, September 19.<\/p>\n

The event counted the attendance of U.S. Trade Representative, Ambassador Katherine Tai, Lt. Governor Austin Davis of Pennsylvania, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist of Michigan, Rep. Dwight Evans (D-PA), House Minority Whip, Representative Katherine Clark (D-MA), Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), Representative Lauren Underwood, (D-IL) and Representative Shontel Brown (D-OH) among a host of other state and local government officials. Samsung\u2019s Executive Vice President, Mark Lippert had the distinct honor of introducing the Congressman and also thanked other partners who helped make the event possible, including Duke Energy, Philip Morris International, Starbucks, McDonald’s, and industry partner, ITI.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Over the years, CBC and in particular \u2013 Congressman Clyburn have played a critical role \u2013 as a true beacon of hope and a driving force for change \u2013 in communities across the United States. While Samsung is a South Korean headquartered company<\/a>, we have also been an integral part of the U.S. for more than 45+ years. Similar to the CBC, it is our shared goal to create opportunities and empower both individuals and communities towards building a more equitable society \u2013 and to help bridge technology gaps and divides. Established in 1971, CBC is composed of Black Members on both sides of the aisle. Its primary mission is to address the legislative concerns and issues that are of key importance to not only the African-American communities but also to other underrepresented communities. The work includes a wide range of policy areas from civil rights to education, economic opportunity, and more. It has been a force in Capitol Hill and an influential voice in the policy community, serving as a powerful voice that is instrumental in shaping legislation and public policy.<\/p>\n

This gathering was more than just a reception; it was a fusion of innovation, advocacy, and inclusion.
