\u201cEnglish is widely spoken, but not everyone feels confident using it,\u201d Mantilla said. \u201cBefore, I would hesitate. I would look for someone else who spoke their language and wait for that person to assist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mantilla recalls one memorable moment during his volunteer work. At a tram stop, a spectator asked for directions to the ice hockey arena \u2013 a venue outside Mantilla\u2019s assignment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t even my venue,\u201d Mantilla recalled. \u201cThe person had difficulty speaking English. So, I used the Interpreter to explain which tram to take and how to transfer to the shuttle going to the arena. Before, I might have tried to find someone else to help. Now, I can assist immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n
