6/12/2018
Give Nigel Sylvester a bike and a smart phone, and he’s got all he needs to bring his imagination to life.
Sylvester’s fans and fellow creators gathered at Samsung 837, Samsung’s first-of-its-kind technology and cultural destination in the heart of New York City’s Meatpacking District, for the premiere of the BMX pro athlete’s latest film, “GO – London to Paris,” to find out what drives his creativity.
The fifth installment in Sylvester’s GO film series embodies the spirit of Samsung’s “Do What you Can’t” mantra – exhibiting how this BMX athlete defies barriers to take viewers on a remarkable ride around the world, inspiring them to make their own dreams happen – through adventure, ambition and innovation.
“GO – London to Paris” is a stunt-filled, exhilarating, and one of the most immersive tours captured on film of these two iconic cities. Sylvester navigates through the streets with his Galaxy S9 in hand, capturing memorable moments throughout his insane adventure and utilizing Samsung’s most advanced smartphone features like Super Slow-mo and Dual Aperture to highlight the drama of pulling off his gravity-defying tricks. Combining this with the phone’s front & rear-facing cameras, he showcases his epic BMX skills against the backdrop of recognizable sights like London’s classic skate park, South Bank, and the Pigalle Basketball Court in Paris.
“Dream big & don’t wait for permission to go after what you want,” Sylvester said at the premiere. “We have so much technology in our hands and the freedom to create on our own terms. You don’t need to wait for someone to tell you it’s okay. Just GO.”
Sylvester said his partnership with Samsung further allows him to explore his curiosities, passions and to share his stories with the world through meaningful content creation.
“The incredible thing about a brand like Samsung is that they believe in my unconventional ideas and they support me bringing them to life.” Sylvester and Harrison Boyce, the film’s director, shared with Samsung’s Newsroom that they used the same creative vision for the film, “We use the city not just as a backdrop but as a motivational tool,” Sylvester explained.
“I was a young kid from Queens with a lot of ideas and a very big imagination. I’ve always had a relentless desire to explore my curiosities,” explained Sylvester.
