On June 16th, HBO’s highly anticipated “House of the Dragon” Season 2 premieres on MAX, and fans are eager to return to Westeros to experience the battle for the “Iron Throne.”

The cinematic “House of the Dragon” series is known for its beautifully filmed 4K scenes that have fans wanting to make sure their TVs are optimized to display every beautiful detail of the episodic adventure.

We’ve compiled our favorite TVs for watching all the action AND tips for fine-tuning your picture and audio settings for optimal viewing of whatever’s in store in the war of succession.

Our pick for the best Samsung screen to watch: Samsung OLED S95D

While you can’t go wrong with any flagship screen from the #1 TV manufacturer in the world, our “house” favorite goes to the Samsung OLED S95D TV series – the industry’s first OLED TV with Glare-Free technology.

Samsung OLED S95D
Why we love it:
• Its pure blacks, bright whites and Pantone-validated color deliver our best cinematic viewing.
• The Al Processor and advanced HDR display incredible contrast in bright and dark scenes.
• Unlike other OLED TVs, its Glare-Free tech means you can watch with virtually no reflections in both dark AND bright rooms.
• 4K AI upscaling seamlessly transforms content to incredibly sharp resolution.
• Audio that makes you feel like in you’re in the action with Dolby Atmos® and Object Tracking Sound+.
• Big screen options for big action: choose from 55, 65, or 77” class screen sizes.
Starting today, Samsung is offering $100 instant rebate off the flagship S95D series when you trade-in any older TV. Plus, we’ll even haul away your old TV on us, and recycle it responsibly, no matter what side of the realm you’re rooting for.1

Tips to adjust your TV settings for your optimal dragon-battling viewing:

Tips to adjust your TV settings for your optimal dragon-battling viewing:
1. Go to settings
2. Try filmmaker *or* intelligent mode on supported TVs.
Filmmaker Mode on supported TVs automatically adjusts your settings to help you watch movies and TV shows the way the filmmakers intended.

Tip: On some TVs, “Filmmaker Mode” turns off advanced intelligent features that actually can enhance your viewing experience. We found that “Intelligent Mode” on the Samsung OLED S95D delivered our favorite “House of the Dragon” experience, powered by its Samsung AI processor.
3. Turn brightness down and contrast up.
A good rule of thumb is to keep brightness at 50%, ensuring it is not too bright where it washes out darker areas but not too dull causing darker scenes to be too dark to see. Increasing contrast will make shadows deeper and highlights brighter, enhancing the overall depth of the image.

Adjusting the backlight will allow you to control how much light the screen produces. You may want to turn this up if your room is particularly bright and turn it down if your room is dark.
4. Turn Off the Lights.
Dim or turn off any lighting and close curtains or blinds. This helps to reduce glare on the TV screen and enhances the contrast of dark scenes.

Use bias lighting: Install subtle, dim lighting behind your TV or around the perimeter of the room. This can help reduce eye strain and improve contrast perception by providing a soft backlighting effect without illuminating the screen.
5. Optimize Your Sound
Try movie/cinema mode in your audio settings, which will help add more bass and treble for bolder sound.

You can also check out your expert sound settings to manually fine tune to your liking - you might want to reduce bass and increase treble if you're having trouble hearing dialogue, or turn up the bass for movie explosions. Also, closed captions can be useful.

Consider a soundbar – like the Samsung Q series, which delivers audio from virtually every angle and uses adaptive sound to help you hear voices better, even at low volume.

House of the Dragon Season 2 streams on MAX, Sundays at 9 pm. Illuminate every devious detail with our how-to.
