A Gadget for Keeping Tabs on your Pet

12/17/2018

Mr. Bubalah, a Mini-Maltipoo, checks out the SmartThings tracker at a New York City pop-up called Bark-n-Browse, where people got to learn all about the SmartThings Tracker while spending quality time with their pets.

While many use Samsung’s SmartThings Tracker to keep tabs on kids or keys, another way to use it is to keep tabs on pets and achieve peace of mind when you’re on-the-go.

Whether it’s attaching the tracker to a leash or a furry friend’s collar, SmartThings Tracker allows any pet parent to know exactly where their four-legged friend’s paws are while sipping egg nog away from home this holiday season.

A tracker is only as good as the ways it’s used. Here are the top three use cases of the SmartThings Tracker for pets:

The small but mighty SmartThings Tracker in a strap pouch is fastened to a dog’s collar.

1. Find your pet quickly

The SmartThings Tracker uses cellular LTE technology to ping and track your pet in real time. No matter who is taking care of your pet while you’re away, if SmartThings Tracker is attached to your pet’s collar you can use the SmartThings app to show the Tracker’s location [1] and you can rest assured knowing if he is waiting patiently at home for the dog walker or already getting his daily exercise.

The SmartThings Tracker is designed to be mobile and on-the-go – perfect for pets like Elizabeth the Corgi.

2. Track where your pet has been walked

How long was that “long walk” exactly? Now you don’t have to guess or question how much attention your best friend is getting while you’re away. Through the SmartThings app, you can see the path your pet has taken and view their travel history. SmartThings Tracker is also water resistant and dust-proof based on an IP68 rating* with up to a week’s worth of battery life** so it will still show you the path your pet has taken, despite the weather.

When your dog is busy socializing, you can check in and know exactly where your favorite friend is. Bodhi, a.k.a Mensweardog, is pictured far right sporting SmartThings Tracker.

3. Geofencing

With geofencing you can set up and designate addresses or specific locations as points where you can receive notifications as the Tracker (and pet) enters or leaves. Is Spot at the groomer’s yet? How long was Fido at grandma’s house? With SmartThings tracker you can designate specific locations as important and be alerted automatically each time your dog is in a particular place or has run away from there.

Geofencing with SmartThings Tracker, shown here on Cooper the Mutt, allows anyone to receive notifications when a dog comes and goes from a specific location.

With SmartThings Tracker it’s never been so easy to keep a virtual eye on pets, letting you enjoy your holiday while your pet continues to be cute, playful and fun as always.

Theo, a mini Goldendoodle, sits on a dog bowl platform at the Bark-n-Browse pop up event. The event had many dog family visitors who came to learn about Samsung’s SmartThings Tracker. 12 dogs were also adopted during the day from the non-profit rescue shelter Rescue Dogs Rock.
