Samsung Care Hosts NJ High School Students to Highlight Workforce Development

Educating the future workforce through our non-profit partner, 12 NJ high school students from Oasis visited the Samsung Technical Training Center.

Oasis, a haven for women and children, and one of Samsung’s non-profit partners, recently visited the Samsung Technical Training Center (STTC) in Little Ferry, NJ.  Sharing a mission of enabling people and empowering future generations, students participating in the Oasis Teen Empowerment & Enrichment Program had an opportunity to learn about the technical industry and how the workforce in these technical fields are trained.

Samsung’s Director of Product Training, Nick Webert, greets the students.

In the Samsung IoT (Internet of Things) Interactive Home Appliance Lab, just like Samsung Care technicians, the students were immersed in tech-related skills development activities with Samsung connected home appliances and consumer electronics in a real-world setting.

“My parents always come to me with their laptop issues, outside of that I’ve never had any interest in tech until today! Looking inside the appliances and seeing how an app assists with repair has been pretty cool,” said Yadary R., a student from Oasis.

The visit ended with Samsung’s Director of Product Training, Nick Werbet’s inspiring words, “Our industry is constantly inventing itself. If you find yourself a creative, an inventor, or skilled in math – there is a place for you here at Samsung.” The students were excited to receive Samsung gifts, including the baseball caps that they put on before leaving.
