Samsung Executives Play Sous-Chef to Raise Funds for March of Dimes
5/31/2017
On May 23, 2017, Samsung participated in the 35th annual March of Dimes Gourmet Gala. March of Dimes, which funds lifesaving research and programs and works to end premature birth, birth defects, and infant mortality, is one of the most prominent bipartisan non-profit endeavors supported by the majority of our nation’s leaders. The organization’s mission is to help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies.
The gala was attended by celebrity chefs, congressional staffers, corporate and association leaders, and other Washington influencers. Forty-eight Members of Congress participated in the competitive cook-off at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. as celebrity chefs served their favorite recipes to more than 600 guests. The event sparked friendly competition among Senators and Representatives, all with the goal of raising funds to support March of Dimes.
Boo-Keun Yoon, President and CEO of Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics, participated as a sous chef along with Tim Baxter, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics America, who presented the People’s Choice Award to Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) and his wife Abigail.
Samsung executives partnered to serve food to guests with Senators Tim Scott (R-SC), Richard Blumenthal (R-CT), John Cornyn (T-TX), and Congressmen Bob Latta (R-OH), Joseph Crowley (D-NY), Doris Matsui (D-CA), as well as engage with several Congressional members such as Senators Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Gary Peters (D-MI), Bob Casey (D-PA), John Boozman (R-AR), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Roger Wicker (R-MS) and his wife, Gayle.
The event successfully raised $1,123,000 for March of Dimes programs and research. To learn more about the March of Dimes event or to make a donation, visit www.marchofdimes.org/gourmetgala.
