Samsung Launches STEAM-based Training for Veterans
11/11/2016
RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. – November 11, 2016 – Today, Samsung Electronics America announced the continuation of its commitment to veteran employment into STEAM- based jobs through its Samsung Veterans Empowerment Program. Partnering with Warriors4Wireless (W4W) and VetsinTech (ViT), active duty military and veterans will be able to obtain valuable tech training into high demand positions.
“Samsung recognizes the sacrifices the U.S. military and their families have made,” said Ann Woo, director of Corporate Citizenship, Samsung Electronics America. “Creating a pathway to meaningful employment is just one of the many initiatives Samsung is involved in that helps veterans. We’re honored to continue our commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work.”
Both programs offer training that leads to meaningful employment. W4W provides transitioning service members with training at select military bases for careers in the telecommunications industry as wireless or broadband technicians. ViT provides veterans with valuable tech skills through its partnership with Galvanize, Inc., the dynamic learning community for technology. Veterans in select cities can learn basic coding and have the option of pursuing additional training for careers in web development or data science.
“We are thrilled to partner with Samsung to provide high tech training and career opportunities for transitioning service members that deserve careers, not just jobs, in the high tech field,” said P. Kelley Dunne, executive chairman and co-founder of Warriors4Wireless.“Hundreds of thousands of well-qualified, well-deserving veterans transition back into the civilian workforce each year. That said, there is an incredible opportunity to tap into the talent and potential of the young men and women who served us so well to help plan, design and build the next generation communications infrastructure for our country.”
Samsung continues its support for the veteran community and expands its partnerships with a wide range of veteran organizations and initiatives in a diverse set of roles that leverage our innovative technology.
Our esteemed partners include organizations such as the Fisher House Foundation, National Military Family Association, Korean War Memorial Foundation and American Legion. Earlier this year, Samsung committed to hiring veterans and military spouses through the White House’s Joining Forces.
