A Global Lesson in Purpose: U.S. Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Students Recognized at Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026

2/20/2026

Samsung Electronics celebrated two U.S. Samsung Solve for Tomorrow alumni at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, recognizing their selection as Global Solve for Tomorrow Ambassadors and marking a milestone moment in their journey as young innovators.

As part of Samsung’s ongoing Solve for Tomorrow initiative and its long-standing partnership with the International Olympic Committee, Danielle Yang and Arya Anilkumar joined a global cohort of student ambassadors in Milan for a multi-day experience centered on purpose, collaboration, and the shared values of the Olympic movement.

Selected from regional Solve for Tomorrow competitions through a joint evaluation by Samsung and the International Olympic Committee, the Global Solve for Tomorrow Ambassadors represent the next generation of problem solvers using science, technology, engineering, and math to address real-world challenges in their communities.

U.S. Students Represent Innovation with Impact
  • Danielle Yang, representing Bloomington High School South (Indiana). Now a freshman at Caltech, Danielle and her Solve for Tomorrow team developed Storm Shield, a lightweight, eco-friendly headband designed to protect hearing aids from wind, rain, and impact. Inspired by her own experience as a hard-of-hearing athlete, Danielle’s innovation reflects how personal challenges can spark solutions with broader potential to support athletes and active individuals of all abilities
  • Arya Anilkumar, representing Charter School of Wilmington (Delaware). A high school senior, Arya and her team created AKQUA-Gel, an AI-powered smart bandage that enables patients and clinicians to track wound-healing progress through real-time image uploads. The solution was inspired by gaps in access to timely medical care and highlights how technology can help improve outcomes across healthcare and sports medicine alike.

Turning Classroom Ideas into Global Possibility

The ambassador experience in Milan brought together students from around the world who shared a common journey, transforming classroom ideas into tangible solutions. Through exhibitions, workshops, and dialogue with global leaders, students sharpened how they communicate their ideas, reflected on perseverance and teamwork, and built connections with peers from different countries and cultures. A defining element of the experience was the opportunity to build relationships with like-minded peers from different countries, mirroring the global spirit of the Olympic Games. These connections sparked conversations about how technology, leadership, and purpose intersect to shape a better tomorrow.

“Being able to meet students from different countries at the Olympics was one of the most meaningful parts of this experience,” said Arya. “It’s rare to have a platform like this where you can see what other young innovators are working on and feel part of something truly global.”

“It was an incredible opportunity to meet executives from Samsung, government officials, and leaders in sport,” said Danielle. “Hearing their perspectives and being able to share our ideas with them made the experience feel real, and it showed me what’s possible when innovation is supported at every level.”

A Shared Commitment to Youth, Purpose, and Connection

The official appointment ceremony took place at Samsung House in Milan and was attended by leaders from sport, education, and government. The moment underscored Samsung’s belief that its role in the Olympic Games is defined not by technology alone, but by how technology and purpose are intertwined—innovation matters most when it expands access, empowers our youth, and helps people solve real problems.

By bringing together young innovators on a global stage, Samsung continues to invest beyond competition, supporting students as they learn, grow, and envision what comes next.

“At Samsung, we believe that young people already have what it takes to shape a better future” Samsung President and Chief Design Officer Mauro Porcini said. “Our role is to support that journey by providing the space, the tools, and the trust that allow their ideas to grow into something meaningful. This program reminds us that innovation does not begin with perfection, but with the courage to try.”

Together for Tomorrow: Ignite the Change

The 2026 Solve for Tomorrow Ambassador Program was held under the theme Together for Tomorrow: Ignite the Change, reflecting Samsung’s belief that when young people are given access, mentorship, and opportunity, they can help shape a more inclusive and sustainable future.
