Samsung Electronics America, a leader in advanced memory technology, has expanded its collaboration with Riot Games to make Samsung SSD the Official Memory partner of the VALORANT Champions Tour Americas (VCTA), one of the world’s leading Esports leagues.
Beginning with the 2025 VCTA season, the Samsung 990 PRO SSD will power VCTA’s hardware fleet, leveling up gameplay with reduced load times, minimized lag and reliable efficiency as teams face-off in the VALORANT arena. For VALORANT’s console players, the 990 PRO SSD with Heatsink is optimized for PlayStation® 5 and keeps the drive cool for smooth, uninterrupted gameplay.
“Those in the Esports community know better than anyone the critical role of high-performance SSDs in getting the most out of your gaming PC or console. Players need the best speeds, reliability and sustained performance, without compromise,” said Jim Kiczek, Vice President of Memory Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics America. “That’s why Samsung SSD is so excited to broaden our relationship with Riot Games and support VCTA. It’s another fantastic opportunity to demonstrate why Samsung SSDs are trusted by millions of gamers, from pro to casual and everyone in between.”
Select VCTA matches will also feature the “Samsung SSD Match Start,” a Samsung SSD-branded intro that excites viewers for the action ahead. Plus, Riot will leverage the blazing speed of the 990 PRO SSD to create special “Performance Segments” recapping highlights and best plays from select matches – all in one minute or less. These will serve to demonstrate the productivity power of the 990 PRO SSD, which helps you create, edit and transfer even your largest videos with ease.
Since its release in 2020, VALORANT has attracted a dedicated community of players around the world. The VCTA joins other leagues in EMEA and Asia as part of a year-long, global circuit of events showcasing the game’s best players.
In 2025, Samsung SSD is also renewing its partner status with the League of Legends Championship of The Americas North (LTA North). Rebranded this year from the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), the league pits players against each other in the popular team-based strategy game League of Legends.
The first VCTA 2025 matches are taking place today at Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles. The 2025 LTA North season will open January 25 with a fresh new format, teams, divisions and more.
