Samsung Teams Up with Preston Konrad, Lifestyle Expert and Interior Designer

5/1/2024

Samsung recently teamed up with lifestyle expert, interior designer and TV host Preston Konrad for a design renovation in New York City, showcasing popular spring and summer design trends and demonstrating how Bespoke can instantly elevate and transform two of the most used rooms in the home – the kitchen and the laundry room.

“I was thrilled when Samsung invited me to partner with them because I’m passionate about design and home décor that elevates your everyday and I love how the beautiful design of the brand’s Bespoke appliances opens a whole new world of possibilities for personalizing your space,” Konrad said.

Konrad is the founder of the Preston Lane home care brand and a regular guest on the Today Show, and he is well-known for his easy design tips that make your home feel polished and aspirational, while also being livable, familiar and inviting.

Vibrant Kitchens That Make an Impact

Right now, kitchens are coming out of their neutral era as more homeowners embrace a world of richer color. Konrad says he’s seeing his clients become more willing to experiment with moodier kitchen aesthetics that lean into bold shades like deeper blues, darker greens and saturated reds.

“I think the experience of spending so much time at home in the last few years has made a lot of people realize that their neutral spaces aren’t reflective of their personality or the specific locations in their home,” Konrad said. “In addition to rich hues, I’m also seeing interest in mixed materials, luxe textures and thoughtful details like jewel finishes and customized hardware.”

Konrad designed a kitchen with a sophisticated look using dark blue cabinets accented with brass hardware inspired by his own kitchen. They served as the perfect backdrop for the beautiful White Glass finishes on Samsung’s Bespoke appliances.

“I love Bespoke’s array of premium finishes and colors,” Konrad said. “And the interchangeable refrigerator panels are one of my favorite design ‘hacks’ because they’re affordable and easy to swap out – making it easy to transform your kitchen without having to do a complete renovation.”

Konrad also infused life into the space with small design details like candles, books and a wood centerpiece bowl with moss balls that added a pop of natural textures and color. To make the most of the kitchen’s stylish open wood shelves, he used them to display beautiful glassware, small decorative objects and potted plants. He also filled out the space with white and gold ceramic storage containers and small storage baskets, adding décor that was both decorative and functional.

“What’s great is that these design tweaks are all things anyone can do very easily,” Konrad said. “You don’t have to hire an expensive interior designer to give your home that special, curated look – small updates and thoughtful details can be really impactful.”

Elevated, Hardworking Laundry

The laundry room used to be an afterthought – a space that was kept hidden and out of sight. But in the last few years, the place where we wash and dry our clothes has risen in status, joining the ranks of foyers and mud rooms to become a part of the house deemed worthy of thoughtful design.

“I personally love that people have started taking more interest in their laundry rooms and are using them as an opportunity to weave their personal style and aesthetic into their home,” Konrad said. “It’s the perfect spot to express yourself, be adventurous and have a little fun because it’s not a huge space and it’s not the focal point of your home.”

Konrad shared that he’s seeing people ramp up their use of rich tones in the laundry room with cabinets, tile and hardware. They’re also making the room work harder with dedicated storage and deep and roomy sinks.

For the space, he chose a light gray color for the laundry room’s extensive cabinets, providing a nice contrast to the Dark Steel finish of Samsung’s Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ and the moody Brushed Black of the Bespoke AI Laundry Hub™.

An elegant brass sink faucet and matching brass hardware on the cabinets brought a subtle touch of warmth into the room and Konrad channeled additional design trends with black and white tile floors, a white tile backsplash and playful blue and white wallpaper along the back wall of the space.

“The mix of colors, materials and patterns gives the room a dynamic aesthetic that is both homey and elevated,” Konrad said.

Samsung’s 2024 Bespoke AI Lineup

Samsung’s 2024 Bespoke appliance portfolio is equipped with AI technology and connectivity that takes the work out of cooking, cleaning and doing laundry. For the renovation, Konrad used the 2024 Bespoke appliances as a source of inspiration.

“The great thing about Samsung’s Bespoke line is that – unlike most home appliances – you can actually design with them, instead of around them,” Konrad said. “The premium glass finishes, flat panel designs and recessed doors create a curated designer look.”

The Samsung space featured the brand’s new Bespoke 4-Door Flex™ Refrigerator with AI Family Hub™+ and Bespoke 4-Door Flex™ Refrigerator with Beverage Zone™ – stunning kitchen centerpieces with flat panel designs, White Glass finishes and a sophisticated design aesthetic.

Samsung’s new Bespoke AI Induction Slide-in Range was also on display. Its matte, anti-scratch finish, Ambient Edge Lighting and sleek knob-less design added to the kitchen’s elegant look, blending in seamlessly with the cabinets and décor.

In the laundry room, Samsung’s Bespoke AI Laundry Hub™ and Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ with 7-inch AI Home LCD Display made the most of the space. The Laundry Hub™ is a stacked washer and dryer in a sleek, single unit and the Laundry Combo™ combines a washer and dryer into one stylish appliance that saves time, effort and space and lets you skip the step of transferring loads.

“As a designer, I really appreciate the breadth of formats in Samsung’s Bespoke laundry line,” Konrad said. “In New York City, I come across spaces of all sizes and shapes, and it’s great to have stylish options that don’t sacrifice performance.”

Samsung’s collection of 2024 Bespoke AI appliances is available now on Samsung.com.
