In Silicon Valley this week, the Samsung Developer Conference 2019 (SDC19) is underway. The event brings together thousands of developers, entrepreneurs, and enterprise leaders. And this year, we’re putting the spotlight on our collaboration with them.

We pursue partnerships with an ambitious goal in mind: to create powerful new experiences. Our global scale and vast ecosystem of devices and services open up new opportunities for partners and developers to make life easier for people around the world.

“To realize our vision we must expand the scope of our imagination,” said Sang Ahn, Vice President and Head of Content and Services of Samsung Electronics America. “Our philosophy of openness naturally leads us to seek the best thinking from our best partners and together with Samsung we give our consumers and enterprise customers the ability to do exciting new things they haven’t done before.”

During the conference this week, we introduced ways we’re making it easier for developers to build on our open, scalable platforms. And we want to celebrate the amazing range of powerful new experiences our partners and developers are already bringing people through Samsung platforms.

ES Chung, EVP Mobile Communications Business for Samsung Electronics, announces the expansion of the Bixby Marketplace and developer tools at SDC19 in San Jose, CA on Oct. 29, 2019.

For example, this summer we launched Bixby Marketplace, a one-stop shop for people to browse and add a wide range of services (known as capsules) to build their own unique Bixby experience. So, for example, if pet owners want to know that they’re giving their furry friends food that’s safe to eat, all they have to do is ask Bixby “Can dogs have strawberries?” and get the answer from Doctor Pooch. Doctor Pooch’s creator, Bixby Premier Developer Piyush Hari, reflected on the development process: “I created a capsule much faster than I could on other platforms. Bixby is unique: less coding and more modeling.”

Samsung also works with partners to make its wide range of services more robust. Within Samsung Pay, new services help make it more than just a mobile wallet, like being able to send money to friends and family on the other side of the world. Samsung collaborated with Finablr to create Samsung Pay Money Transfer powered by Travelex. Samsung Pay users in the U.S. can now send money to friends and family in 47 countries in a simple, safe, and transparent way.

Samsung Rewards_Lyft_imageAlso, a new integration between Lyft and Samsung Rewards enables people to earn more points by linking their Lyft account to their Samsung Pay account. Just by riding, people can earn Samsung Rewards points, redeemable for discounts on Samsung products and instant-win prizes. All they have to do is keep riding, and the points keep flowing.

These are just a few of the many ways we’re seizing opportunities to co-create solutions in open collaboration with industry leaders, to make life easier for people around the world.
