Things to Know: How to Get Your Sleep Back on Track with Smart Tools

3/10/2025

According to the NIH, one in three adults in the U.S. regularly doesn’t get enough sleep — and, while the occasional restless night (or two) is normal, chronic sleep deprivation can take a serious toll. While you might already know that Samsung’s devices come packed with great tools to help track workouts, set up and run your Smart Home, and keep an eye on your health, they also offer features to help you wind down and get quality rest.

After all, we know how important a good night’s sleep is not just to be able to function the next day, but to make the most out of its potential — and we’ve put a lot of R&D into making sure Samsung devices like the Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch and more can help you make the most of your downtime. With a nod to Sleep Awareness Week (March 9-15), we’ve partnered with the Samsung Customer Care team to take a look at how to optimize the sleep-focused features on your Samsung devices for more restful ZZZs.

Use Samsung Health Sleep Monitoring on Your Galaxy Watch

One of the Galaxy Watch’s many talents? It has the ability to track your sleep patterns with zero effort from your slumbering self – just leave your watch on when you go to bed to uncover some great features to help you sleep better every night.

Open up the Samsung Health app1 on your Galaxy Watch (or Fit), then head into Settings to turn on a variety of tracking tools to help monitor how you snooze. You can also keep an eye on your skin temperature or even record your snores using your phone’s companion app. In the morning, check out your sleep time, sleep score (to measure the quality of your sleep), sleep stages, snoring, and other selected benchmarks.

Get Your Own Personal Sleep Coach with the Galaxy Watch

Not only will Samsung’s Galaxy Watch (and Galaxy Ring – more on this below) track and record your sleep stats, giving you more information about how and when you sleep best, but it’ll also customize a tailored sleep coaching program2 to your individual needs.

After wearing your Galaxy Watch for a week while you sleep to collect baseline data, you’ll be assigned a Sleep Animal based on your Sleep Survey results and sleep data. From there, Samsung Health app will create a four- to five-week coaching program — complete with sleep missions — to help you get a great night’s sleep every night.

Use Sleep Analysis on the Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra

If you don’t go anywhere without your Galaxy Watch7 or Galaxy Watch Ultra, you’re going to want to be sure you’re going to bed with it, too: Both watches come with Galaxy  powered technology to get an even closer and more accurate look at how you’re resting. Advanced sleep coaching and a new Sleep AI algorithm analyze sleep patterns and offer tips designed to improve rest. The Galaxy Watch Ultra also offers a De Novo FDA-authorized Sleep Apnea feature to check for potential signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea3. The setup for this is through the Samsung Health app, so make sure it’s connected and synced up so you can start sleeping better stat.

Track Your Sleep with the Galaxy Ring

Galaxy Ring is the super-sleek, minimalist cousin to the Samsung’s Galaxy Watch — a perfect fit for those of us who love wearable tech but prefer it on a smaller scale. Beyond tracking fitness and other vitals, the Galaxy Ring can also analyze your sleep down to every last detail: Think heart rate, blood oxygen, and skin temperature. Then, it’ll send the data to your Samsung Heath App on your phone for a clear snapshot of your sleep pattern.

The Galaxy Ring, sizing kit, and shipping are eligible for reimbursement from Flexible Spending Accounts or Health Savings Accounts (check your plan for more details).

Set Up Ambient Mode on Your Samsung TV

Samsung TVs offer a number of features to optimize your viewing experience, whether you’re playing video games or curling up on the sofa for a movie night – but don’t sleep on Ambient Mode when it’s time to wind down the day.

Ambient Mode lets you display restful images on your Samsung screen, like cinemographs, relaxation images or even one of your own photos.

There’s also an auto-brightness feature that will lower your TV’s brightness based on the lighting in your space, perfect for when you begin to shut out the lights. Plus, Ambient Mode offers a sleep timer that turns off your TV after a specified amount of time. And, the timer isn’t exclusive to Ambient mode. You can set your Samsung TV to turn off after your preferred time – whether you’re enjoying a show, movie or YouTube video.

You can switch on Ambient Mode via the TV itself, or directly through your SmartThings app –should you already be too comfortable under the covers to find the remote. The SmartThings app even allows you to create your own nighttime routine. So, when you’re ready for bed, your TV will automatically turn off or enable Ambient Mode to send you off to sleep.

Use Samsung SmartThings to Control Devices as You Sleep

Schedule lights to dim, TVs to turn off, and more with your SmartThings app and synced-up Galaxy watch or phone — when you fall asleep, your devices can be set to shut off, too. To use this feature, make sure the Samsung smart devices you want to control are added to the SmartThings app on your phone, set your bedtime and wake up time in the Clock app on your Samsung phone, tap “Sleep Well with Smart Devices,” then go device by device to set the shut-off options that work for your sleep schedule.

To get started, scan the QR codes below to launch restful nighttime routines in the SmartThings app. Simply hit “save” and name the routine to make it your own, or visit Samsung.com to explore our seamlessly connected tech to get your sleep back on track.
