Samsung Celebrates Global Month of Giving This October

10/3/2018

This October, Samsung Electronics America will support its Global Month of Giving by giving back to the communities it serves in North America. Samsung will host various activities throughout the month, including its annual Day of Service on October 12, and will double its community -impact grant designed to support the communities where Samsung employees live and work.

Throughout the month of October, Samsung will share stories that illustrate how employees and communities are thriving together in North America – including a sales manager who helped raise $16,000 for Quality Services for the Autism Community, and the outcomes of specific community impact grants that go to organizations like Hackensack Riverkeeper that work to clean up and preserve the local environment.

“The Global Month of Giving is an initiative born out of the worldwide belief that we thrive when our partners and communities thrive,” said Ann Woo, Senior Director of Corporate Citizenship at Samsung Electronics America. “Samsung Electronics America is committed to building and supporting programs in the local communities that helped create our shared success today.”

In addition, Samsung Electronics America will hold its Day of Service on October 12 to support communities across the United States. During this event, Samsung employees put work aside to dedicate their time and service to local charity partners in the communities where they live and work. Since its inaugural year in 2014, U.S.-based Samsung employees have served nearly 110,000 volunteer hours, and Samsung is proud to continue its Day of Service this October.

This year’s Global Month of Giving is shortly after the Samsung Annual Charity Gala. This event recognizes customers, partners and champions for their contributions to initiatives that provide children access to education, mentorship, life-saving medical treatment and the opportunity to gain leadership skills. Samsung raised $3 million from the evening, all proceeds of which go directly to Samsung’s charity partners.

Samsung’s contributions to local communities come to life through its “Samsung Gives” philanthropic programming. From its Annual Charity Gala, education-based Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest, Veteran Support and partner programming with Covenant House and Junior Achievement, Samsung makes a definitive impact in the communities it calls home.
