Rewriting the Future: Citizenship

8/11/2022

The return to a new normal is already here, so the time is now to rethink the post-pandemic future. Foresight in this moment calls for a rewrite of the future by both addressing the vulnerabilities that have been presented in the last two and a half years and examining the equitable, sustainable, and enriching opportunities that lie ahead. As part of a multi-part video series, Samsung employees across business areas have been sharing their views on the future of innovation, sustainability, diversity & inclusion, health & well-being, education, design, customization, and connectivity. And this is their take on citizenship.

Communities across the U.S. have been feeling the effects of the aftermath of a global pandemic, a challenging economy, increased climate-related disasters, and more. Through corporate citizenship programs, companies are looking to drive meaningful volunteer opportunities to make a positive impact on the communities where their employees live, work and play, as well as to underscore their brand purpose. With 20,000 employees across America, Samsung has established a successful company-wide volunteerism initiative, dubbed Samsung Gives, designed to show solidarity with local communities through service.

Through designated Days of Service and volunteer time off, among other benevolent efforts, Samsung employees are encouraged to utilize their respective talents for the betterment of society. After all, co-prosperity and people are at the center of Samsung’s core values. Here’s what our employees had to say about the benefits of strengthening communities and fostering civic engagement through service. They also had insights to share on the overall importance of corporate citizenship, ways in which companies can create more engaging corporate volunteering programs, and what the future of volunteering looks like.
