Samsung Recognized for Green Power Leadership

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NEW JERSEY – OCTOBER 29, 2018 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc., and Samsung Austin Semiconductor, LLC., announced today Samsung’s No. 7 ranking on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) National Top 100 List of the largest green power users from the Green Power Partnership (GPP) – a rise from Samsung’s previous position at No. 59. Samsung also ranks No. 6 on the GPP’s Top 30 Tech & Telecom list – a rise from Samsung’s previous position at No. 12. The improvement in rankings reflects the company’s effort to transition towards renewable energy and its commitment to sustainability.
To date, Samsung has used nearly 1.2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power in 2018, which represents approximately 90 percent of the total power needs of Samsung Electronics America, Inc., and Samsung Austin Semiconductor, LLC. Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Austin Semiconductor, LLC plan to source renewable energy to meet 100 percent energy use in 2018. By moving the needle in the voluntary green power market, Samsung contributes to theadvancement of the market for green power as well as the development of those sources.
