A shining star will take the field at Minute Maid Park that aims to captivate and engage fans during the Houston Astros’ season opener against the Chicago White Sox. Of course, we’re talking about the upgraded primary scoreboard from Samsung that will digitally enhance the experience for fans of the World Champion Astros.
“In its first season with the Astros, the upgraded scoreboard comes in at just over 54 feet by 123 feet featuring 5.3 million LEDs designed to shine as bright as this championship-quality team,” said James Fishler, Senior Vice President of the Display and Home Entertainment Division at Samsung Electronics America. “With the bar set this high, Samsung is ready to deliver a heightened experience for fans, and opening day is the perfect time to unveil this cornerstone and light the fire for the upcoming season.”
Another addition to this star-studded roster include suite deck and center-field mezzanine ribbon boards, along with an upgraded 25 foot by 40 foot LED screen in left field. The total upgrades account for over 53,000 square feet of dynamic displays with 9.8 million LEDs. With these stats, Samsung is putting fans across the league on notice that a championship-worthy team partnering with an elite technology company is a home run.
“As the official display and technology partner of the Houston Astros, Samsung has been hard at work during the off-season to ensure Minute Maid Park is in peak condition for opening day and beyond,” said David Phelps, Vice President of Product Management of the Display Division at Samsung Electronics America. “Delivering end-to-end services from design, construction, installation and post-sales support ensures the displays come to life on game day.”
