Samsung Talks Tech & Tips for a More Energy Efficient Home

With each new innovation unveiled, Samsung aims to empower customers with cutting-edge technology that enhance every day experiences. And with more than 50% of homeowners expressing concern about their household impact on the environment¹, we are committed to developing energy efficient products and services that can help you reduce power consumption and costs, without sacrificing what you love to do.

This year, during Climate Week NYC, we brought together our network of employees, customers, government agencies, non-profit organizations, media partners and more, for exciting activations that built on our commitment to improve energy efficiency.

Stay Organized & Save Energy with The Home Edit and Samsung (9/21)

Samsung is teaming up with The Home Edit to show how energy management and staying organized can be both fun and functional. Together, we’ll be co-designing a new energy-efficient laundry room at The Home Edit brand house in Nashville with help from SmartThings, Samsung’s smart home platform. We kicked off this exciting energy saving adventure on Thursday, September 21 and demonstrated how SmartThings Energy can help you improve efficiency among some of the most popular home appliances. Then, guests were invited to stick around at Samsung 837 for a signing of The Home Edit: Stay Organized!

Energy Saving Tips for the Environment and Your Wallet

With the holidays coming and colder weather starting to set in, now is a great time to start making energy efficient tweaks to save you money and have a positive impact on the environment this Winter. From shopping for ENERGY STAR certified products that can save you about $450 on your annual energy bill² to 5-minute or less tips, Samsung’s Nick Webert, Senior Director of Care Field Service Operations, shares simple and effective steps to make a difference for the planet and your wallet. Collaborating to Create a Cleaner Environment

As part of our “Partners in Sustainability” series, Samsung’s smart home platform, SmartThings, shares how collaboration and sustainability are critical to how SmartThings’ develops smart home technologies and solutions. Hear from Mark Benson, Head of SmartThings US, and learn how you can take control of your energy consumption and environmental footprint in your home with help from SmartThings. Tech’s Playbook for Public-Private Climate Solutions (9/19)

Tackling issues like climate change require ongoing cooperation and support from us all, but knowing where to start can feel like a daunting task. On Tuesday, September 19, Samsung and ITI partnered to host events that highlighted private and public partnerships between tech companies and government agencies that have a positive impact on the environment. Together, we hosted a panel event at The Standard, High Line, as our very own Mark Newton, Head of Corporate Sustainability at Samsung Electronics America, sat down with the Biden Administration’s Jetta Wong, Senior Advisor on Climate, and Chief Sustainability Officers from many of the world’s leading tech companies, including HP, Intel Corporation and Accenture, and discussed critical climate questions and identify working solutions.

Smart Home Design for Sustainable Living (9/21)

Samsung sat down with design and architecture magazine Dezeen to tap into the role that smart appliances can play in making the modern home more efficient. Guests joined us at Samsung 837 on Thursday, September 21 to hear from Ben Dreith, Dezeen US Editor, and world-class tech and smart home designers, including Barent Roth, Director of Product Design at The New School – Parsons and Director, Co-Founder of Circular Economy Manufacturing; Matthew Spencer, Associate Director, Industrial Design & Sustainability at Aruliden; and Samsung Electronics America’s Claudia Santos, Director of Product Marketing – Connected Living; as they explored how a connected home can help you reduce your environmental impact.

Samsung Employees Serve Communities Coast-to-Coast (9/21)

As part of our annual Samsung Gives Day of Service, Samsung employees spent the day learning about the needs of local communities and served through various activities that showcased Samsung’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, empowering the next generation and building a more sustainable world. With 16 different sustainability-focused events to choose from nationwide, our people got in touch with their green side as they beautified bike trails, cleaned up local creeks and more. And in New Jersey, employees at City Green were joined by previous Solve for Tomorrow National Winners from Princeton High School to bring their winning STEM solution to life. Student and employee participants came together and created biohomes for black soldier flies to transform food waste into compost.
